Christian Therapy: Acceptance versus Failure (Part 4 of 4).

Greetings. In this post, I am inviting you to view life and both your personal and life problems through the lens of acceptance versus failure. My hope is that when problems come up, that your initial reaction is to accept life and all its problems versus reacting to life’s problems through the lens of failure. When we condemn ourselves for having problems by becoming overly critical, condemning or emotionally harsh on ourselves, we than will feel negative emotions such as shame, guilt, bad or horrible.

Remember, whatever is not allowed and accepted into grace and acceptance, it will be under judgment and condemnation. However, if the emotional tone of love, grace and acceptance is applied to life’s problems, there is hope for transformation.

So when we all can reach a point of no condemnation for life problems, and we can take ownership of our problems by confessing and admitting them, than we will find with God and with others a place to achieve growth and spiritual power due to our acceptance of our problems and not condemnation in which we feel like a failure.

The challenge for all of us is to apply the medicine and treatment of love and acceptance for what is happening in our lives. Remember the words of Paul in Ephesians 4:32: “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” As we apply the medicine of grace and love, the truth of our problems will become apparent and we can face it in the light of acceptance and not the darkness of rejection, failure and shame.

That is why the role of love and acceptance is so powerful for our human worth. Love, acceptance and grace are the solution and resolution to all problems, both good and bad. If there is not enough love, grace and acceptance on board, then rejection, judgment and condemnation will overtake and minimize the importance of love and acceptance. We will not sing ‘Amazing Grace that saved a wretch like me’ but instead we will sing ‘Badness and failure keeps me feeling like a wretch!”

My hope for all of us is to view life through the lens of acceptance and grace because that is what sets us free. When we stay stuck in guilt, condemnation and failure, than we are under the law of perfection or trying to solve our problems by ourselves without the medicine of grace and acceptance. Instead we will not be free but instead we will view our life and problems under the umbrella of failure.

Remember, feelings of failure, badness, and condemnation has been taken care of on the cross. Jesus did for us what we cannot do for ourselves: save ourselves. God never asked us nor did he wire us to view life and all its problems as a strategy in which we try, try and try to fix it on our own through our own efforts. Because when we try, we will fail and feel like a failure due to living without love, grace and acceptance. We will not be free, we will stay stuck, and life will not feel good.

But we will feel good when we accept life as it comes by applying the importance of grace and acceptance. Pursue love and grace with truth so that you can feel free and feel accepted just as you are with no condemnation and no judgment. If you need help with this, I would invite you to give me a call and let me help you walk in freedom, and not walk in condemnation, so that you can feel God’s love and acceptance in all that you are. Thanks for reading.
